What's Behind the Curtain?

Good Morning and Happy Friday!

I don’t know about you but for me it has been an interesting week.  I had the opportunity to experience a first for my career.  I have been misquoted but never impersonated with the media.  At this point, it appears the cell number was a “burner” phone and the owner can’t be determined.  Per conversation with our school attorney, we do not have any legal recourse.  Enough of that mess… let’s move forward and focus on taking care of the more important work!

Early in the week our volleyball team soundly defeated Burkburnett in the Bi-District round of the playoffs. Unfortunately, our tremendous Lady Blues Volleyball season came to an end last night vs a very good Decatur squad. That’s the hardest part of qualifying for the playoffs… either you win the state championship or end on a loss. Let’s not allow that to overshadow the accomplishments of this year’s team. Great job ladies!  You represented yourself and your school in GREAT fashion!

Big game tonight for our Graham Steers vs Decatur with playoff seeding on the line.  Best of luck and safe travel to and from Decatur!

Also, good luck to our GJHS tennis teams at the Iowa Park Tournament this Saturday.

What’s Behind the Curtain?

In the Wizard of Oz, the wizard fabricated an image of himself that was bogus.  His larger than life image simultaneously overwhelmed and frightened the people of the Emerald City.  At times leaders think they need to be something other than what they are.  When the curtain was removed his deception was revealed.  Although not a wizard, he turned out to be a good person…a wise person!  He helped the Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow and Dorothy discover their individual strengths.  Think about it, had the curtain not been removed, none of them, including the wizard, would have realized their core gifts.

How might you pull back your own curtain?  Try completing these sentences with your team:
·      The biggest mistake I ever made was…
·      The greatest lesson I’ve learned is…
·      I need your help with…
·      You can count on me to…
·      What makes me crazy at work is when…
·      Here’s what I expect of you…
·      The best way to get my attention is…

Corny Joke of the Day! (scroll down for the answer)

Why was the parrot sent out of the classroom?

Because he was using fowl language!
