Strong Fathers-Strong Families- Graham ISD is pleased to announce our partnership with the Strong Fathers-Strong Families organization!
When fathers become involved in the daily lives and education of their child, they can make a HUGE difference in the outcomes for that child. Just having a father or father figure present can help a child be more prepared for school, perform better in the classroom, and have better behavior.
We encourage all fathers, father figures and ANYONE that wants to attend with a kid to participate in our Strong Fathers-Strong Families events.

○ September 27th Pioneer Elementary Bring Your Dad to School Day
○ October 18th Crestview Elementary Bring Your Dad to School Day
○ November 14th Woodland Elementary Bring Your Dad to School Day
○ January 14th District Wide Math Night (Location TBD)
○ March 7th District Wide Science Night (Location TBD)
Bring Your Dad to School Day- This day gets fathers into the classroom and allows them to see what their children do every day! Dads will eat breakfast with the kids, visit classrooms for about 45 minutes, and then talk about what they observed, why they observed it, and how they can help their children.
Dad and Kid Math Night- At the Strong Fathers math event the dads and kids play math games with cards, dice and/or double nine dominoes. The fathers and kids will be led through various games encouraging participants to learn new ways to learn and instruct the fathers the best way to help their children learn as they play the various games.
Dad and Kid Science Night- During the Strong Fathers science night the dads and kids will build various contraptions that fly and pop while learning science concepts. The facilitator will guide our dads and kids as they complete tasks such as constructing airplanes, rockets, and catapults and then launching them to see them pop, fling and fly!

Lady Blues Cross Country- The Lady Blues won the Varsity and JV division at the Dublin Dash. Varsity finished in this order: Khloe Morris 4th, Evie Griffin 8th, Kendra Williams 15th, Edith Branch 16th and Debbi Hunter 20th. JV Finished in this order: Alejandra Barrios 2nd Vivian Vizcaino 4th , Ashley Paocasangre 7th, Araceli Martinez 11th, Aianna Castle 13th . GREAT JOB LADY BLUES!
Graham Steer Cross Country- The Varsity Boys finished in 1st Place at the Dublin Dash. Sam Perkins was 1st overall, Lawson Wenninger was 3rd, and Marcus Herrera finished 5th! CONGRATS!
Lady Blues Volleyball- Congrats on the clean sweep versus City View this Tuesday. Good Luck this evening in Bridgeport!
Graham Steers Football- Great job by the Steers last night with the 59-35 victory over Decatur!
Register to Vote- September 25th is National Voter Registration Day, and the deadline to register to vote in Texas for the November election is October 9th. This week, make sure every eligible student, bus driver, cafeteria worker, counselor, custodian, staff member, teacher, and parent is registered to vote. Your vote is your voice and you can’t vote if you’re not registered! The kids are counting on you to speak up for them at the polls, so make sure you are registered today!

“Thanks for stopping by,” he said with a big, gap-toothed smile. I smiled back and continued on my way. How could that old flower-cart owner be so cheerful? All I ever did was stop and look at his flowers during my rush to work. I had been passing his cart for over a year now and still hadn’t bought a single flower. Yet, every day I got that same cheerful smile and a simple thank you.
The next day I decided I’d finally buy a bunch of carnations for my desk and see how the man treated me after a purchase. “Thanks for stopping by,” was his sole response, along with that big gap-toothed smile. I couldn’t resist any longer and asked him, “Why do you thank me for stopping every day when I never make a purchase?” He looked at me for a moment and said, “Everybody that stops and admires my flowers makes me glad of what I do. I try to bring some cheer into this busy world and when someone stops to look, I feel I’ve done a good job.”
“Thanks for being here,” was my smiling response as I hurried on to work.

The story above reminds me how important our attitude is to the service that we deliver. Many of our "clients" are not daily buyers of our educational services, but we still must prepare for them anyway. We never know when one of our "clients" will wake up and decide to utilize the substantial opportunities that a good school district has to offer. I continue to be impressed by the love and concern that educators show and I’m optimistic about what we do and how our role “makes a difference.”
I refuse to join those who have chosen to become cynical about our career choices. I appreciate all educators who join together each day to educate our kids, to attack ignorance and to nurture positive attitudes.
