Care Enough to Vote- Make your voice heard about things that matter – register and vote!

Everywhere you turn, voting is being discussed - voting rights, voter integrity, and voter access. It’s no mystery why this topic is so important – because your vote is your voice and by exercising your right to vote, you have a say in how important decisions are made. Through your vote, you choose elected officials from the most local form of government (school boards) all the way up to the highest position on the ballot (governor, this year). The people you choose will make decisions that affect every educator, student, and parent in the state. Your vote is your power, and it is a big deal – if you use it.

Elections are coming.  To vote in the March 1, 2022, Primary Election, you must be registered to vote by January 31, 2022. Some states make it super easy to vote, through automatic voter registration, online voter registration, and Election Day registration at the polls. Unfortunately, some states make it a little harder and put up some extra hoops. In fact, that is what much of the discussion out there is about. Texas educators are tough and won’t be deterred easily. We will register; we will research candidates; and we will vote! As the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday approaches, we remember his wise words, “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.

To Do:

  1. Make sure that you are registered to vote. Check your voter registration status here.
  2. If you have moved recently, you may need to update your registration. Review this checklist to determine if you need to re-register.

More TIPS For a Great 2022…

  • Spend some time alone.  Constant socializing can be draining.

  • Open your mind to change, but don’t let new ideas dilute your principles.

  • Live an honorable life.  When you get older, you’ll be glad you did.

  • Judge your success by what you had to give up getting it.

  • Remember that not getting what you want may be the best thing that never happened to you.

  • Never interrupt when you are being flattered.

  • Mind your own business.

  • Trust in God but lock your car.
