Steers and Lady Blooms Floral Club-  Attention GISD Staff- The Graham HS Advanced Floral Design class is continuing an aspect of the class that will bring the students additional knowledge and experience while providing community members a good product at a great price. This program is known as the “Steers and Lady Blooms Floral Club”. Each month an appropriately themed arrangement will be designed and arranged by members of the Graham Advanced Floral Design class. This program is designed to give students extra experience beyond the financial limits of the class. Please consider a $20-25 donation a month for the duration of the subscription or a one-time donation of $75 to cover the entire fall semester donation. We accept cash or checks, please make all checks payable to Graham FFA. Donations will be accepted the week of or time of delivery. The fall semester subscription will cover the months of October, November, and December. A new subscription will be available in January that will cover the spring semester. We also invite you to participate in our vase/container recycling program that allows us to reuse vases and containers for future arrangements and allows us to spend more money on the arrangement itself, rather than the container. To participate please complete this form Steers and Lady Blooms Floral Club by 5 pm on October 19th. The subscriptions will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. We appreciate your support of the Graham Floral Design class. If you have questions, please contact kaitlyn.blaylock@grahamisd.com or 940.549.1504 x 1403.

Life on the Fly…

An old man and a young man are playing golf together.  The young man hits his tee shot and it lands 20 yards in front of a large pine tree blocking the green.  The young man asks for advice.

"You know, sonny," says the old man, "when I was your age, I'd hit that ball right over that tree."

So the young man digs in, swings as hard as he can, and smacks the ball right into the tree.  It ricochets back and lands right in front of the two golfers.

"Of course, when I was your age," says the old man, "that tree was only about ten feet tall."

Sometimes it appears that others have skills or luck that we simply miss.  In reality, they dealt with or deal with what happens in their life based on their current circumstances and obstacles.  It is often unfair to compare our situation with others, because the conditions and external factors may be far different.  It has been my experience that we must at times "live life on the fly".  There is no absolute script, nor can we rely on the experience of others to always guide our way.  We need to value the example of others, but in the end, it will be our responsibility to evaluate the conditions, understand the consequences, and execute with our maximum skills.

Have a nice day...take care of yourself and others!
